MTA, Department of Veterans Affairs, and BVSJ Unite to Combat Veteran Suicide Through Powerful Campaign

(ads can be seen on all NYC subway and bus lines)

The Department of Veterans Affairs and BVSJ has joined forces with the MTA to tackle a critical issue head-on—veteran suicide. Through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP) we are able to provide resources toward community-based suicide prevention efforts that meet the needs of veterans and their families through outreach, suicide prevention services, and connection to VA and community resources.

As of 2022, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reported that an average of 17 veterans die by suicide each day. This statistic has underscored the urgent need for mental health support and intervention for veterans. Various factors contribute to the higher risk of suicide among veterans, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life.

Breaking the Silence, Riding Together
Our collaborative effort is featured on every subway and bus in the five boroughs of New York City. This means that our message will reach far and wide, emphasizing the importance of support and breaking down the stigma associated with mental health.

You Are Not Alone

The core message of our campaign is simple but powerful: every veteran struggling with suicidal thoughts deserves support. We want to make sure that no one feels isolated in their battle. We care deeply about each and every one of you, and together, we can make a difference.

How Can You Help?

Spread the word! Share our campaign with friends, family, and fellow veterans. You never know who might need to hear it. Let’s make sure that every veteran knows they are not alone.

Stay tuned for updates on events, resources, and stories of hope. Together, we can break the silence and end veteran suicide.
