Veterans Everyday 5K Run/Walk
A Night At The Oscar

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re thinking about the moments that defined the year—the conversations, the check-ins, the doors opened, and the times our team showed up right when it mattered.

This year, Black Veterans for Social Justice worked across housing, employment, reentry, food access, suicide prevention, and community engagement—supporting thousands of veterans, families, and neighbors as they navigated real-life challenges.

Housing remains an important part of what we do, but it is only one piece of a larger ecosystem. In 2025, more than 400 individuals were placed into permanent housing, while over a thousand families were able to remain housed through stabilization, prevention, and ongoing case management. Stability looks different for every household—and we meet people where they are.

Community mattered deeply this year. From housing workshops and fairs to neighborhood events, anniversaries, and moments of remembrance, more than 3,000 neighbors participated in spaces designed to inform, connect, and support one another.

We also continued to invest in second chances. Over 100 justice-involved veterans received support before and after release—accessing employment assistance, benefits navigation, and reentry planning—because successful transitions require preparation, trust, and follow-through.

Through suicide prevention and peer-based support, 200+ veterans remained connected and supported, a reminder that showing up consistently can be life-saving. Still here. Still fighting. Still supported.
Employment remained a critical pathway forward. In partnership with workforce and employer networks, 400+ individuals were connected to meaningful employment, reinforcing dignity, purpose, and long-term financial stability.
Food security was another essential layer of support. This year, 100,000+ meals were distributed, ensuring that basic needs were met while individuals and families focused on stabilizing other areas of their lives.
None of this work happens alone! We are deeply grateful to the public agencies, foundations, brands, and community partners who walked alongside us this year—believing in lasting change and investing in people, not just programs.
As our CEO Wendy McClinton would say: “Forward ever, backwards never.”

Looking ahead to 2026, we do so with clarity and momentum. The work continues—stronger teams, deeper partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to veterans and the communities they call home.

Happy New Year—from all of us at BVSJ!
