BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this month we focus on raising awareness about the importance of early detection, support for those affected, and the ongoing fight to find a cure.

TAKE ACTION!

• Early Action: Detecting breast cancer early allows for treatment before it spreads.
• Screenings Matter: Regular mammograms and self-exams catch cancer early.
• More Options: Early detection increases the treatment approaches available to patients.

BVSJ Receives VA Suicide Prevention Grant

BVSJ is working with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to prevent Veteran suicide in New York. Through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP), BVSJ was recently awarded money from VA to support its mission of preventing Veteran suicide. The SSG Fox SPGP provides funding to community-based organizations serving Veterans and their families with both evidence-informed and innovative approaches to suicide prevention.

This renewal allows us to continue offering crucial support, resources, and outreach to veterans in need, helping them navigate the challenges they face. We’re proud to be part of this program and remain dedicated to improving the well-being of the veteran community.
