Servicing Veterans, Families, and the Community since 1979
HOW WE HELP

PROGRAMS

For the last 45 years, Black Veterans for Social Justice, Inc has serviced thousands of veterans, their families and the community at large. BVSJ was founded to give assistance to the often marginalized black veteran, but has since grown into an organization that offers programs and services to all veterans and the community, regardless of race or gender.

OUR HISTORY

On April 18th, 1979, a group of veterans from all branches of the military representing enlistees from WWII through Vietnam, came together to provide assistance to veterans with problems. Some immediate problems faced were racism and racist policies, little or poor medical and rehabilitative services, unemployment and no re-entry preparation. Many soldiers leaving the military had no knowledge of their rights or the agencies willing to help them.
